Does best in well-draining conditions, but can tolerate heavier clay. Soil should not be allowed to dry out. Plants need good air circulation, as Scarlet Beebalm can be susceptible to powdery mildew. Has reportedly been used medicinally to expel worms and to treat gas, fever and stomach ailments. Can colonize by rhizomes.
