Agastache, also known as giant hyssop, is a herbaceous perennial native to North America. It consists of about 30 species. Compared to the species of plants, Agastache hybrids generally have more vibrant flowers and are more resilient during the winter. The hybrid flowers come in various colors, such as reds, oranges, pinks, yellows, and whites.
The 'Heather Queen' variety of Agastache will form a clump without spreading too much. It is a herbaceous, moderately long-lived perennial plant with a shrub-like appearance. It produces large, dark-pink flower spikes and has gray-green foliage with small dispersed leaves. It proliferates and blooms in the first year. The blooms first appear in early summer and continue through mid to late fall. This plant has aromatic foliage with flower spikes emitting a mint fragrance, attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. Agastache' Heather Queen' can tolerate hot, dry conditions that many other flowers cannot handle.
