'Starry Eyes' Nierembergia features beautiful white cup-shaped flowers with lavender centers and buttery yellow eyes at the ends of the stems. The flowers bloom early in the season and early in the fall. Whenever possible, plant the flowers in groups. Its small, narrow leaves remain green throughout the season. However, the fruit is not ornamentally significant. Nierembergia' Starry Eyes' is a dense herbaceous perennial with a mounded shape. The garden composition is enriched with its excellent and delicate texture, so it should be fully used.

Nierembergia gracilis is an Argentine desert native that is one of the best plants for full-sun summer flowering. Most nierembergias melt in our summers, but Nierembergia' Starry Eyes' forms a tight mound of foliage 10 inches tall x 18 inches wide. From spring until fall, the clump is smothered with up-facing, light lavender bells. Good drainage and 6 hours of baking time under the sun are required for the best performance. Outstanding! Where Nierembergia' Starry Eyes' isn't winter hardy, it makes a tremendous mixed container plant. This plant will require occasional maintenance and upkeep and should only need a little pruning, except when necessary, such as to remove dieback. It is often used as a 'filler' in the 'spiller-thriller-filler' container combination, providing a mass of flowers against which the thriller plants stand out. Note that growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets may require more frequent watering than in the yard or garden.
