Parthenocissus quinquefolia

Common names include Virginia Creeper and Woodbine.

A wonderfully fast-growing deciduous vine with a native range spanning from Quebec and Ontario all the way down to Guatemala. This impressive plant can reach 30-50' climbing, trailing, or even spreading as a groundcover. Thanks to its adhesive tips at the ends of its tendrils, it effortlessly clings to surfaces like brick, stone, or wood walls.

The leaves beautifully carpet any surface, starting as a deep purple in the spring, transforming into a mellow green in summer, and then delighting us with stunning shades of purple and crimson red in the fall. Late spring to early summer brings greenish-white flowers that peek out from the upper leaf axils, though they often stay hidden among the foliage and aren’t particularly showy. Come autumn, the flowers make way for little blue-black berries, which are a favorite treat for birds. However, these berries are toxic to humans. Can help with erosion control on slopes.

A larval host plant for many species of sphinx moths.

This adaptable plant tolerates most soils and climatic conditions and can handle full sun to full shade. Flourishes best in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. The best fall color occurs in full sun. A regular trim keeps it looking its best. I’s best to avoid growing it on wood or shingle walls because its holdfasts can be tricky to remove and may damage painted surfaces, gutters, shutters, or wiring if not kept in check.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
