Oenothera lindheimeri 'White Whirling Butterflies'

'Whirling Butterflies' is a type of Gaura lindheimeri (Oenothera lindheimeri), a native plant to Texas and Louisiana. This plant produces snowy white flowers with a hint of pink. The flowers appear on delicate, slender stems from late spring to mid-fall, resembling butterflies in flight. The foliage of 'Whirling Butterflies' typically features small maroon spots that become more noticeable in cool fall weather.

 

Gaura 'Whirling Butterflies' prefers full sun and thrives in average to poor, well-draining soil. It is a tap-rooted perennial, making it highly drought-tolerant. However, once established, it does not like to be transplanted.
