Beschorneria septentrionalis

Beschorneria septentrionalis, commonly known as False Agave, is a delightful succulent that looks like a charming blend of an agave and a hosta. It develops beautiful rosettes, reaching 2 to 3 feet, adorned with numerous glossy gray-green leaves that arch gracefully. In the springtime, striking red flower spikes emerge, reaching heights of 4 to 5 feet, showcasing lovely dangling bell-shaped flowers with green petal tips. As summer progresses, the stems transition to a soft green while still holding onto their eye-catching, red-tinged seed pods.

For the best results, consider planting in a location that enjoys full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil, and remember to water occasionally during the summer—more often if it’s basking in full sun. This resilient plant can withstand temperatures down to at least 10°F and makes a fantastic addition to meadows or succulent gardens. You’ll love how the vibrant flowers invite hummingbirds to your garden. With its stunning blooms and evergreen foliage, this low-maintenance gem will be a year-round star in your outdoor space. If the flower stalks start to lose their charm, feel free to trim them back—but if you’re keen on collecting seeds, you might want to let them ripen into walnut-sized fruits after blooming.

Native to the northeastern Mexican states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León, Beschorneria septentrionalis flourishes beautifully in mountainous dry woodlands, adding a touch of natural beauty to any garden.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
