A blind Prickly Pear is a relatively large, shrubby, or tree-like blue-green prickly pear with several branches and a somewhat definite trunk once mature. Spines are absent, but the joints have copious evenly spaced areoles in which numerous reddish glochids are borne. Pale yellow flowers bloom in spring to early summer and turn golden yellow to orange with age. The fruit is about 1" long and reddish green to bright red.
