Hesperaloe campanulata 'Lionheart'
Lionheart® is a variety of Hesperaloe campanulata known for its robust and upright flower spike, reaching up to 10 feet with a long-lasting flower display. Like most Hesperaloes, the blooms start in mid-spring but can continue throughout the summer, even in hot climates. Each blossom features deep pink buds that reveal a beautiful iridescent white center.
The leaves resemble those of Hesperaloe funifera but are smaller and less coarse. This smaller species grows to a height and width of only 3 to 4 feet. Plant Lionheart® in well-drained soil and full sun, although it can also tolerate reflected heat and partial shade. Native to Nuevo Leon, Mexico, this plant can withstand temperatures as low as 0 º F.
