Poa arachnifera

In spring, showy 2-3 ft fluffy, silvery flowers rise above the foliage. A good groundcover unmowed or mowed. Unlike most grasses, male and female flowers are borne on separate plants. Attracts butterflies.

Good in most well drained soils. Can tolerate some shade. Drought-tolerant but needs some summer water to be successful. It's strong growing habit is desirable in high trafficked meadows or large scale plantings. The ability to repair itself is a good trait in high use garden settings.
