Yucca baccata
Yucca baccata, often lovingly called banana yucca, grows in delightful spiky clusters adorned with lance-like leaves. Large, beautiful white flower stalks burst forth in the summer, bringing a vibrant touch to any garden. This low-maintenance gem, native to the West and Southwestern U.S., contributes wonderful texture to the landscape. Its charming flowers mature into sweet edible fruit that local birds absolutely adore! The plant gets its common name from its fruit, which closely resembles bananas, making it all the more interesting. Interestingly, the flowers are pollinated by the nocturnal desert yucca moth, creating a special bond in nature.
Thanks to their impressive heat tolerance, banana yuccas are a fantastic choice for areas that experience reflected heat, like city medians and desert-style commercial landscapes. They also appreciate a bit of shade and are incredibly drought-tolerant once they’re established. These resilient plants adapt beautifully to just about any well-draining soil type. Minimal care is all they need, as this tough plant is rarely bothered by pests and typically resists foraging from deer and rabbits. Like cactus and succulents, banana yuccas thrive on low fertilizer—overfeeding can lead to issues, so it’s best to keep it simple. Whether you blend this cold- and heat-hardy succulent into perennial gardens, use it in mass plantings, or showcase it as a charming container plant, it’s sure to shine.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
