Salvia greggii x lycioides 'Nuevo Leon'
Small salvia, thick with tiny, midnight-purple blooms flowers late in summer, continues until frost. 'Nuevo Leon' quickly forms a clump. Place against light green or its complement of yellow-orange for a little visual excitement, or with other blues and purples for deep, dark richness—a saturated and glowing color that holds its own! This is woody salvia, and the foliage is wonderfully, spicily pungent—perhaps the most pungent of any sage. (It's very important not to cut back the dead foliage until new growth begins in spring.) Rounded form.
