Agastache 'Poquito Orange' (Hybrid)

Agastache, often called Giant Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint, is a delightful genus of herbaceous perennials that hails from North America, boasting around 30 species. Hybrids of Agastache are especially charming, showcasing more vibrant flowers and a delightful complexity in winter compared to their species counterparts. These hybrid blooms come in a cheerful array of colors, including reds, oranges, pinks, yellows, and whites! Most hybrid plants display dense terminal spikes of tiny tubular flowers with two lips, blooming joyfully from mid-summer until fall. The flowers are arranged in lovely many-flowered verticillasters (false whorls) atop sturdy square stems, adorned with opposite pairs of fragrant gray-green to medium-green leaves that exude a delightful anise or licorice scent. You'll often find bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies flocking to these beautiful flowers, adding even more life to your garden.

One particular variety, 'Poquito Orange,' stands out with its dense spikes of orange flowers and is cherished for its compact growth habit. It thrives wonderfully in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils under full sun, though it can also manage some light shade. It's important to keep an eye on drainage, as it doesn’t do well in clay soils that hold onto moisture. Once established, these lovely plants can handle some dryness and heat. To keep your Agastache looking its best, it's a good idea to deadhead any spent flowers. Most hybrids are winter hardy up to USDA Zone 6, but it's wise to protect them in cozy spots, like southern exposures, leaving their leaves and flower stems during winter. Using sandy or gravelly mulch will also help shield the plants and prevent rot, ensuring they stay healthy and vibrant.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
