Agastache ‘Tutti Frutti

Agastache, commonly known as Giant Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint, includes around 30 delightful upright herbaceous perennials, with most being native to North America. The hybrids of Agastache often showcase more vibrant and attractive flowers while demonstrating improved winter hardiness compared to their species counterparts. These beautiful hybrid blooms come in a wonderful array of colors, including red, orange, pink, yellow, and white. Typically, you’ll find these hybrids adorned with dense clusters of small, tubular flowers that flourish from mid-summer to fall. They display lovely many-flowered verticillasters (false whorls) on sturdy 2-4' tall square stems, which feature pairs of serrate, aromatic leaves that carry a delightful anise or licorice scent in shades of gray-green to medium green. The blossoms are not only visually pleasing but also incredibly appealing to bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies, making them a wonderful addition to any garden.

One stunning variety, 'Tutti-frutti,' produces clusters of tiny, tube-shaped raspberry flowers that are densely packed into striking 6-10" terminal spikes on strong, purple stems. The leaves are serrated and ovate-lanceolate, exuding a lovely lemon aroma. This resilient plant thrives even in summer heat and humidity and has a long late summer bloom period, often lasting until the first frost.

Agastache plants flourish best in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils under full sun, and they can comfortably tolerate a bit of light shade. It's important to ensure good soil drainage, as these plants may struggle to survive winter in heavy clay soils that hold too much moisture. Once they’ve established themselves, they can handle heat and moderate drought conditions quite well. Removing spent blooms encourages further flowering. Typically, Agastache hybrids are winter hardy to at least USDA Zone 6. In locations where winter might pose a challenge, it's wise to plant them in sheltered spots (like southern exposures) and to leave leaf and flower stems intact over the winter for added protection. Using sandy or gravelly mulch can help guard the plants and prevent rot. However, keep in mind that hybrids grown from seeds might not retain the traits of the parent plant.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
