Artemisia ludoviciana 'Silver King'
Artemisia ludoviciana, commonly called white sage, is a wonderful native plant found across North America, from Canada to Mexico. It boasts lovely, aromatic leaves that are lance-shaped and covered with soft, woolly white hairs, all sprouting from greenish-white stems. Growing in delightful clumps, it can reach heights of 2 to 3 feet. It charms us each summer with its dense clusters of yellowish-gray flower heads resembling tiny discoids. The plant is named after Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon, wild animals, and hunting, adding a touch of mythology to its beauty.
For optimal growth, white sage loves well-drained soil that ranges from dry to medium moisture, ideally with poor to moderate fertility. It struggles in moist or wet soils and may lean a bit if planted in fertile soil under part shade. This plant can spread quite a bit through its rhizomes and self-seeding, but don’t worry! You can manage its growth by snipping off flower heads and setting up soil barriers. If you're interested in propagating it, division is best done in late summer to early autumn.
The SILVER KING variety may also spread, but it tends to be a bit more reserved than the species. If you’re adding it to borders near other cherished perennials, consider using soil barriers to keep everything in check!

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
