Phlox paniculata 'Robert Poore'
Phlox paniculata, affectionately known as garden phlox, is a delightful native plant found from New York to Iowa, and all the way down to Georgia, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Remarkably, it has spread beyond its original gardens and now flourishes in many areas.
One lovely cultivar, 'Robert Poore,' grows in a charming upright clump that can reach heights of 4 to 5 feet. It showcases beautifully fragrant, deep purple-pink tubular flowers featuring long corolla tubes and five flat petal-like lobes. These spectacular blooms create large, pyramidal clusters during summer on sturdy, upright stems that rarely need support. You can expect the stunning flowers to bloom from mid to late summer, and even sometimes into early fall. With its narrow, oppositely arranged, pointed, lance-shaped leaves, this plant also makes for gorgeous cut flowers.
These charming plants thrive best in moderately fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soil, enjoying full sun to light shade. They truly adore rich, moist, organic soils and are happiest in climates with mild summers, steering clear of hot and humid conditions. Plus, this cultivar stands out as one of the most mildew-resistant options! While they aren't fans of drought, so be sure to give them a drink during dry spells—just remember to avoid overhead watering. A light layer of mulch in the summer helps keep their roots nice and cool. And when winter comes, don’t forget to prune them back to the ground for a fresh start next season.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
