Phlox drummondii

Annual phlox, also known as Drummond's Phlox, is a vibrant annual plant that typically grows to a height of 6-12 inches, but can reach up to 20 inches. Its flowers come in various colors such as pink, red, white, peach, or lavender, often with a pale center. The 1-inch blooms are trumpet-shaped with a short, narrow tube and appear in terminal clusters. The leaves are soft, hairy, and sticky.

If there is a lack of seasonal rains, it's important to provide water during fall, winter, and spring. The plant dies back after going to seed, so it's recommended to plant it with summer and/or fall-blooming wildflowers. As with all annuals, allow the phlox to reseed to ensure a bountiful display the following year.
