Pavonia lasiopetala

Pavonia is a beloved garden accent plant found across Texas, even though it originally thrives in the dry, rocky areas of South, Central, and West Texas. Its charm lies in its impressive bloom period and adaptability; it happily flourishes in full sun to partial shade and can thrive in various soil types, whether very dry or regularly watered. This delightful little perennial shrub features a woody base with herbaceous growth, showcasing light green, velvety, heart-shaped leaves and vibrant red flowers resembling miniature hibiscus. These lovely blooms greet the morning sun and retreat by early afternoon when the heat peaks.

Pavonia's naturally loose and open-branching form can be easily kept more compact with regular pruning, encouraging fresh growth and an abundance of flowers. While Pavonia typically has a lifespan of around 3 to 6 years, it makes up for it by self-seeding effortlessly and can also be easily propagated from saved seeds or softwood cuttings.

Spring Shipping:

Orders are shipped within 10-15 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.

Customer photo review of Rock Rose 'Ellen's Legacy'

Very, very well packed impressively packed was really happy to find this variety of Rock Rose I'm being very I'm very excited to put it in the ground and share the seeds with all my friends. This website has a great variety of native plants that can be sometimes difficult to come across shipping was a breeze and everything looked beautiful once it came.

So far so good! The plant seems healthy, and so far has withstood being planted in the garden during a particularly hot spell. Still small, course, but we are looking forward to watching it grow.

I have ordered quite a few plants online as we dont have anything within 50 miles and this was BY FAR the best experience. They have a wonderful selection of Native plants with prices that are very reasonable. Customer service was very attentive. I was contacted asking me if it was okay to use a different delivery service that would be able to deliver a couple of days earlier than the one I had signed up for when I ordered. I am assuming this was more costly but no mention was made about that, they just wanted to make sure the plants were delivered as soon as possible. I thought that very considerate. BUT, when I received the plants I was amazed. Beautiful, healthy plants. Wrapped in corrugated thick paper, waterproof bags around the containers and very moist. Typically plants I've bought online look pretty haggard but these rivaled any nursery I've been to or ordered from. If you are looking for Texas natives that are healthy and thriving when they reach their destination, you cant go wrong with these folks.

Excellent and beautiful variety!

I received a large plant that is already blooming in the garden. I love this unusual rock rose color.

Purchased three "Ellen's Legacy Red Rock Roses" The plants were packaged very well and shipped in a timely manor. They arrived with little or no plant shock and were planted the next day and are doing well. Thank you for the quality plants and exceptional service. Looking forward to making a trip to the Dallas area this fall and stopping by your nursery to see your business in person. Thanks again. Bob Struckman

Healthy plant. Never showed signs of shock after transplanting.

It was in perfect condition when it arrived. Very healthy, the leaves were a beautiful green and it even had a small bud on it. I love the plant as I do all of the plants I order from you. Thanks for growing these beautiful natives!!

VERY HAPPY

Beautiful!!!!

We've got Pavonia (the "typical," lighter shade of pink) all over our yard; what a treat to find a new/different varietal, to mix things up!
