The Cheyenne Spirit was introduced by Kieft-Pro Seeds in 2012. This coneflower won a 2013 AAS (All-America Selections®) award and a FleuroSelect Gold Medal for its garden performance. In the first year, various bloom colors are available, including purple, pink, red, orange, yellow, cream, or white ray flowers with brown cones. This plant grows 2 to 2.5 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide.

There are seven species of Echinacea in North America, all endemic to eastern and central regions. Coneflowers usually bloom from June to August, with some sporadic blooms later in the year. Butterflies and other insects love it. Flowers are good, fresh or dried. The dead flower will remain upright until winter; if you don't remove the flower heads, goldfinches and other birds will visit the blackened cones.

It grows in average soils with dry to medium moisture and well-drained drainage in full sun to part shade. It is best in full sun. This adaptable plant tolerates drought, heat, humidity, and poor soil. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every four years). Plants rebloom well without deadheading. However, promptly removing spent flowers encourages continued bloom and improves general appearance.
