Coreopsis verticillata 'Moonbeam'

Also known as Threadleaf Coreopsis, Whorled Tickseed, Whorled Coreopsis

Coreopsis verticillata, known as thread leaf or whorled coreopsis, is a lovely rhizomatous perennial that grows in vibrant, bushy clumps reaching heights of 1 to 3 feet. Its cheerful yellow, daisy-like flowers dazzle, featuring bright yellow rays and sunny center disks. This delightful plant blooms abundantly in loose clusters from late spring through summer, and a little mid-summer trimming can encourage a gorgeous rebloom in the fall! Its palmately 3-parted leaves and fine, thread-like segments give it an airy and delicate appearance.

The charming variety 'Moonbeam' offers a more compact form, showcasing soft pale yellow daisy-like flowers with gentle untoothed rays and striking darker yellow center disks. This beauty even earned the 1992 Perennial Plant of the Year award.

It loves well-drained soil that ranges from dry to medium moisture for optimal growth and enjoys soaking up the full sun. It thrives beautifully in poor, sandy, or rocky soils with good drainage. Plus, it's well-suited for various conditions and tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought. Although keeping up with deadheading those spent flower stalks might be tedious, it encourages new blooms and helps prevent unwanted self-seeding. Trimming plants in mid to late summer will promote a fall rebloom while tidying up any sprawling foliage. Just a heads-up—while species plants can spread quickly with rhizomes and self-seeding, keep in mind that 'Moonbeam' is a sterile cultivar that won’t self-seed in the garden.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
