Melampodium leucanthum

An exceptional native plant, Melampodium leucanthum (plains Blackfoot or blackfoot daisy), is a perennial herbaceous plant in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), typically found on rocky slopes containing limestone. This plant is visually appealing due to its showy flowers and extended blooming period from March to November.

This resilient perennial can withstand temperatures as low as -20°F. The small white daisy flowers of the Blackfoot Daisy, with yellow centers, cover entirely the modest mound of foliage during the blooming season. It's best to plant Blackfoot Daisy in well-drained soil under full sun and avoid overwatering. It is also highly tolerant of exposure to reflected heat.
