Salvia greggii 'White'

Autumn sage is a lovely, soft, mounding shrub that typically reaches 2-3 ft. in height. It features small, minty, aromatic green leaves that remain evergreen in warmer climates. From spring through frost, you'll be delighted by its charming flowers, which bloom in shades of red, pink, purple, orange, or white. This hardy plant is native to the regions from south-central and west Texas all the way down to San Luis Potosi in Mexico, often thriving on rocky slopes.

A favorite in Southwest landscapes, Autumn sage makes a wonderful addition as a small, ornamental, flowering shrub in perennial beds or as a low hedge. Its fragrant leaves satisfy the senses, while its vibrant flowers attract lovely hummingbirds. In the wild, the blossoms are typically red, yet they also come in a variety of colors depending on the area—ranging from pink and orange to purple and white, with plenty of shades in between. Thanks to selective breeding, there are now even more exciting cultivars available! This resilient plant is free from common diseases and insects and is drought-tolerant once established, so there's no need to fertilize it afterward.

To help your Autumn sage thrive, ensure it’s planted in a well-drained spot, as it doesn’t do well in shrink-swell clay soils. You can improve drainage by mixing in organic matter and amendments, especially in clay areas; planting on a slope is also a great option. While it typically handles the cold well, it will lose its leaves in regions with very harsh winters. Interestingly, some cultivars have even adapted to grow outside their usual range, flourishing in places like Oklahoma and Colorado. Just a little tip: try to avoid planting it in areas with heavy foot traffic, as its stems can be quite brittle.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
