Southern Wild Hyacinth is a spring-flowering bulbous perennial from the lily family. You can expect one or more flowering stalks to grow up from its basal foliage. These leaves are long and narrow, and have a medium to dark green hue. The flowering stalks showcase lavender to pale purple flowers, blooming in a sequence from the bottom to the top during late spring. Each flower transforms into a small seed capsule, about 1/3 inch long. After the flowers fade, the leaves turn a yellow and wither, marking the plant's transition toward mid-summer dormancy.
It flourishes best in moist, fertile, and acidic humusy soils that are well-drained, thriving under full sun or part shade. While it prefers full sun, it is adaptable and can comfortably handle part shade in open woodlands. Regular moisture is important during spring growth and bloom, but these resilient plants can manage drier conditions after blooming as they prepare for their summer rest. Once you plant them, it’s best to let them be! These plants reproduce through bulb offsets and reseeding, and if you’re lucky enough to have cross-pollinated flowers, they will form seed capsules with multiple seeds. While growing from seed is possible, keep in mind that they won’t bloom until their third or fourth year.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
