Salvia greggii 'Pink'

Autumn sage is a lovely, soft, mounding shrub that typically grows 2-3 feet tall, featuring small, minty green leaves that add a touch of evergreen charm in warmer climates. From spring until frost, it showcases beautiful flowers that come in vibrant shades of red, pink, purple, orange, or white. This delightful plant is naturally found from south-central and west Texas all the way down to San Luis Potosi in Mexico, often thriving on rocky slopes.

Considered a favorite in Southwest gardens, Autumn sage makes a wonderful choice for a small ornamental flowering shrub in perennial beds or even as a low hedge. Its aromatic foliage invigorates the senses and its lovely blooms are sure to attract hummingbirds! While the wild version typically boasts red blossoms, you'll find a delightful variety of colors depending on the region—some areas are splendidly adorned with pink, orange, purple, and white hues, plus so many beautiful shades in between. Thanks to thoughtful breeding, numerous cultivars have enriched this color range over the years. And the best part? It's resistant to diseases and insects, drought-tolerant, and doesn't need fertilizing once it’s established.

For the best results, make sure Autumn sage has a well-drained spot since it doesn’t tolerate shrink-swell clay soils. Adding organic matter can really help improve drainage in clay areas, and if you can, planting on a slope works wonders too! While it usually holds up well in colder weather, it will go deciduous in regions with extreme winters. Some cultivars even thrive outside their natural range, making their home in places like Oklahoma and Colorado. Just keep in mind to avoid planting it in high foot traffic areas, as its stems are quite brittle and can break easily.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
