Yucca treculeana

Common names include Spanish Dagger, Don Quixote's Lance, Spanish Bayonet, Palma Pita, Palma de Datil, Palmito

Spanish Dagger Yucca can grow to heights of up to 20 feet, with a lovely, tree-like shape characterized by branching readily from the base and higher up the trunk. The leaves are known for their durability, which allows the rosettes to gracefully elongate over time, while the dead leaves cling to the stem, giving it a unique, hairy, and irregular charm.

The leaves themselves are sturdy and come in shades of yellow-green or blue-green. They have a curved profile, typically measuring 2 to 3 inches in width and ranging from 15 to 50 inches in length. The edges often feature delicate filaments and a small spine at the tip. At 4 to 5 years old it is mature enough to begin to flower, sprouting white or purplish blooms in dense clusters.

Spanish Dagger grows best in part shade and dry soil, though it can tolerate a variety of soil conditions including sandy, loam, and clay.

The common name of "Spanish Dagger" can refer to various similar yucca species, including Y. treculeana, Y. aloifolia, Y. gloriosa, and Y. schidigera. In this instance, it is referring to Yucca treculeana.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
