Chilopsis linearis 'Bubba'
The Desert Willow is a beautiful tree that requires minimal care and adds beauty to southwestern landscapes all year round. Even when bare in the winter, the tree has an attractive architectural silhouette. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies with its abundant fragrant, orchid-like flowers throughout the year.
The 'Bubba' cultivar is known for its strength and resilience. It can withstand high temperatures, drought, and cold weather, and its roots spread quickly. The tree has broader and greener linear leaves than other desert willow cultivars, giving it a fuller appearance. Despite its long blooming season, 'Bubba' produces fewer seed pods than other varieties. Its flowers appear burgundy from a distance, but up close, they reveal a distinct dark pink top half and a deep burgundy lower half with bright yellow guidelines along its throat for pollinators.
