Melampodium leucanthum
An outstanding native plant, Melampodium leucanthum, affectionately known as the plains Blackfoot or blackfoot daisy, is a delightful perennial herbaceous plant from the sunflower family (Asteraceae). You can typically find it adorning rocky slopes that hold limestone, adding a touch of beauty to the landscape. With its vibrant flowers and a blooming period that stretches from March to November, this plant truly captivates the eye.
This resilient perennial thrives in conditions as cool as -20°F. During the blooming season, the small white daisy flowers, showcasing cheerful yellow centers, beautifully blanket the modest mound of foliage. For the best results, it’s recommended to plant Blackfoot Daisy in well-drained soil where it can soak up plenty of sunshine and remember to steer clear of overwatering. Plus, it’s wonderfully tolerant of reflected heat, making it a great choice for various garden settings.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 10-15 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.

My plants arrived quickly and wrapped with so much care and protection! All the plants were healthy and full. They replanted well and are blooming already! I'm thrilled with my purchase, and happy to have native plants both for their sustainability and to encourage pollinators. Wonderful customer service. I highly recommend.

The 1 gallon plants arrived looking quite miserable. When we removed the plants from the pot, the root balls (generous description to be "called" a one gallon) that would have grown in a starter cell. The rest of the container was loose mulch. We're not hopeful for the $65 expenditure and are quite disappointed in your quality control / product. We'd planned to shop in person after placing the order, but with this shipment it's highly unlikely. As members of the local garden club we can't share a positive review. I did respond to the delivery message (see below) but have not received a response. So, in summation, we'd appreciate a refund and apology. Poor quality plants delivered today - Order 10403 Inbox Georgia Olivier Tue, Mar 25, 3:27 PM (7 days ago) to info, bcc: Rene We ordered and received two (2) Blackfoot Daisy plants and they are just pitiful. For $64.72 we anticipated they would be well rooted in their pots, at the very least. It appears they were pulled from another pot and just plopped into larger ones with minimal roots. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed. You should have better quality control.

When the flowers arrived they were half dead. One I got most of the off and it is doing fine. However the second was dead the next day. I loved this particular daisy plant. Just wish they were healthy when I received them!
