Nepeta faassenii 'Walker's Low'
This delightful plant can grow impressively tall, reaching heights of 2 to 3 feet, and showcases broad, soft, wavy leaves in a lovely gray-green shade, each measuring 1-2 inches long with charmingly toothed edges. Its sturdy, upright spikes of deep lavender-blue flowers stand out vibrantly, even more so than other catmints. These beautiful blooms appear from May to July, and with a bit of pruning after the first flowers fade, you can often enjoy a second blooming period that continues right up until the first frost.
Not only do the flowers enchant us, but they also attract bees, butterflies, and birds, making your garden a lively haven. Plus, you won’t have to worry about deer, rabbits, or even cats bothering this plant! For optimal growth, it loves to be planted in well-drained soil, where it can bask in full sun to light shade, needing only occasional watering. This cultivar was introduced back in 1988 by the wonderful Four Seasons Nursery in Norwich, England, and it earned the title of 2007 Perennial Plant of the Year from the US Perennial Plant Association (PPA). Though referred to as 'Walker's Low', which might suggest it’s a low-growing variety, this name actually honors the garden where it was first discovered, likely in Ireland.
Often categorized as a cultivar of Nepeta racemosa, this charming plant is thought to be a hybrid between Nepeta racemosa and N. patella. Therefore, it’s probably better described as a hybrid without a specific epithet, or simply as a Nepeta x faassenii cultivar.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
