Also known as Evergreen Sumac, Tobacco Sumac, Lambrisco, Lentrisco
The evergreen sumac is a delightful shrub or small tree that can reach heights of 6 to 10 feet and spreads its branches wide. Its shiny, evergreen leaves are pinnate and turn a beautiful pink in early spring, later transforming to a rich maroon after frost. These plants feature 5 to 9 fleshy leaflets on sturdy stems, showcasing alternating leaves that are 2 to 5 1/2 inches long. Although the flowers are a bit shy, with their five petals, they bloom in charming clusters that measure 1 to 2 inches long at the ends of strong branches and come in lovely shades of greenish or white. By mid-September, the fruit appears; it's a vibrant red, wider than it is long, and covered in fine hairs.
The evergreen sumac is perfect for creating a lush, thick hedge or screen, and it can also grow in a tree-like form with a tall, straight trunk. It's worth noting that only female plants produce those lovely flowers and berries. Fast-growing and resilient, this plant is generally free from pesky insects and diseases, and it thrives even in drought conditions. While it's not a true evergreen, its leaves provide greenery throughout the winter, dropping only to be replaced with new ones in just about a week.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
