Forestiera angustifolia 'Pendula'
Forestiera angustifolia 'Pendula,' also affectionately known as the Weeping Elbow Bush or Weeping Desert Olive, thrives in the beautiful central, western, and southern regions of Texas, especially along the scenic Rio Grande Plains. You’ll often find it in delightful mixed-brush coastal areas or open woodlands, where it loves to settle into dry, lime-rich, well-drained soils. This charming plant belongs to the Olive family, Oleaceae, and it's truly one of the most wonderful "weeping" plants you'll come across.
As a deciduous to semi-evergreen beauty, it showcases tiny, slender leaves about an inch long. Even when bare, its graceful weeping habit catches the eye and is a striking focal point in any landscape. In mid-summer, it delights us with deep purple berries that add a splash of color. The smooth silver bark is exceptionally eye-catching, providing lovely winter interest to your garden. The modest apetalous green flowers may not steal the show in spring, but their abundance adds charm.
Please give it a sunny spot with some shade for optimal growth. While it appreciates regular watering, once established, it becomes very drought-tolerant and is a fantastic option for xeriscaping. This relatively low-maintenance shrub is best pruned in late winter after the chill of extreme cold has passed. Plus, it’s a wonderful choice for enticing birds into your yard, bringing even more life to your outdoor space.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
