Ruellia simplex 'Katie Pink'

Ruellia simplex, also known as Mexican petunia or Texas petunia, is a lively and lovely perennial that thrives as a small shrub with a strong, woody base. Although it hails from Mexico, this charming plant has made itself at home in various gardens across the southeastern U.S., from South Carolina to Texas, as well as in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

One delightful variety is the Katie Dwarf Pink Mexican Petunia, which showcases stunning pink trumpet-shaped flowers nestled among narrow, glossy dark green leaves. From spring to frost, this compact mounding plant produces a fantastic display that brightens any garden or container. Plus, its beautiful blooms are a magnet for bees and butterflies, adding even more life to your outdoor space.

If your dwarf Mexican Petunias grow a bit too tall or leggy, don’t worry! Simply trim them back to a few inches above the ground, and they’ll quickly bounce back, ready to bloom again in no time. These perennials are drought-resistant once they’re well-established and can thrive even in less-than-perfect conditions. While they’re tolerant of shade, they truly shine when planted in sunny spots, showcasing their vibrant flowers to the fullest.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
