Mexican Oregano is a lovely bushy perennial that typically reaches heights and widths of 3 to 4 feet in the southwestern U.S. However, in more northern regions, it may grow a bit shorter. This plant, which hails from Northeastern Mexico and Haiti, features square stems with bushy growth, adorned with smooth, shiny, oblong, aromatic leaves that are about an inch long. These flavorful leaves are commonly used in cooking, offering a delightfully robust taste reminiscent of oregano. You can also enjoy slender lavender-pink tubular flowers that bloom during the summer and fall months.
This resilient plant is winter hardy in USDA Zones 8-10 and really flourishes in rich, medium-moisture, well-drained soils under full sun. It's perfectly suited for hot and humid climates while also being able to handle some shade. Plus, it can withstand brief periods of drought. For gardeners in areas north of Zone 8, it can be grown in containers and brought indoors to a sunny window during the winter months.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.

I ordered 4 of the 4” Mexican oregano plants. My family has used this herb for many generations in our tomato sauce for tacos. At first the plants were out of stock, but once available, the shipping went well and the healthy plants arrived. I will attach a photo showing them after I potted them. A few of the branches of one were broken in the shipping, but not too bad. Thank you so much.
