Silphium integrifolium
Silphium integrifolium or as many like to call it, rosinweed or whole-leaf rosinweed is a hardy plant that thrives in the beautiful prairies, glades, and along the charming roadsides of the Midwest and southern states. These lovely silphiums typically reach heights of 2-3 feet, but some can soar up to 6 feet! Their medium green leaves, which feature smooth or finely serrated edges, grow on sturdy, hairy stems. You'll be amazed by the variety of leaf shapes, ranging from lanceolate to ovate to elliptic. When mid-summer rolls around, these plants burst into life with corymb-like clusters of flowers that remind us of cheerful little sunflowers. Each flower showcases bright yellow rays surrounding a sunny yellow disk at its center, with bracts that have a playful reflexed tip covering the blossoms.
For anyone looking to grow this beauty, well-drained, moderately moist soil that basks in full sunlight is just perfect. It can handle a bit of light shade too! Once established, rosinweed shows resilience and can withstand a bit of drought. It adapts well to various soil types, including sandy, loamy, and clay soils. However, if you’re starting from seeds, be patient, as the establishment process can be a bit slow. In the right conditions, these plants often self-seed, so there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy more of them in the future! As they grow, they develop deep taproots, and once they’re rooted, it’s best not to divide them.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
