Leucophyllum frutescens 'Compactum'
Cenizo, Purple Sage, Texas Ranger, Texas Barometer Bush, Texas Silverleaf, Texas Sage, Silverleaf
Compact Texas Sage is a charming shrub that can grow up to 5 feet tall and wide. It grows at a moderate pace and, with the right care, can live for over 40 years! It enjoys full sunlight and well-drained soil with dry to average moisture levels. While it can't thrive in standing water, it's great at handling drought conditions, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping or moisture-saving landscapes. Compact Texas Sage thrives in poor alkaline soils and urban environments, as it's highly tolerant of pollution.
This versatile shrub is perfect for both outdoor landscapes and containers. Its upright growth habit makes it a fantastic 'thriller' in a container, where it can be surrounded by smaller plants or those with trailing edges. It can also shine beautifully when grown alone in a container. Just keep in mind that when it's in a container, it might not perform exactly as the tag suggests. Plus, outdoor container plants may need a bit more frequent watering than those planted in the ground!

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 10-15 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.

We haven’t planted it yet, so that’s a picture of my perfect good boy Ruger. Just wanted to tell you thank you so much. The plant looks amazing. We have built at an enclosure and bought a massive amount of dirt and filler to make it work when we plant it right outside the window where my wife reads every day. Y’all were responsive when I emailed you and the plant looks absolutely better than I expected. You will absolutely get repeat business from us thank you so much!!!

Had some issues with shippers which had nothing to do with Native Gardeners but the staff of Native Gardeners was great in dealing with my problem. The replacement plant arrived looking great and is now growing happily!

The 2 Compact Texas Sage plants arrived in good condition, even though the shipping cartons looked pretty beaten up. The plants arrived separately, a day apart, and I planted them immediately, just in time for the coldest temperatures of this season. They took the cold in stride and are still sturdy yet pliable. I can hardly wait to see the new growth that I'm sure is just around the corner. I'll send you some pics as soon as they bud up. Thanks for getting them to me so quickly and in such good shape.
