Salvia farinacea 'Augusta Duelberg'
On a sunny summer day, the passionate Texas plantsman Greg Grant found himself wandering through old graveyards, where he happily stumbled upon a charming clump of Salvia farinacea at the grave of Augusta Duelberg. This serendipitous discovery led to the creation of Salvia 'Augusta Duelberg.' This wonderful selection of the Texas native Salvia farinacea forms a compact beauty, reaching 30 inches tall and 4 feet wide, and showcases hundreds of delightful spikes of silvery-white flowers that attract hummingbirds from May all the way until frost. As a native wildflower, it truly shines with its heat and drought tolerance.
Caring for Salvia farinacea is a breeze! It requires minimal maintenance, typically just needing a good cut to the ground between the last hard frost of winter and the first signs of new growth in spring. If it starts to look a bit shabby in late summer, feel free to give it a trim then too. Don’t worry; it will bounce back into full bloom and be ready for the colder months in just a few weeks! This trimming is usually optional.
Salvia farinacea is a clump-forming plant rather than a runner, which means it’s pretty easy to manage. It might produce some seedlings, which can be a lovely sign of its success in your garden. However, if you’re aiming to keep a specific clone, you might want to remove those seedlings since they may not match the original type.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
