Salvia leucantha
Mexican bush sage, also known as Salvia leucantha, is a perennial shrub native to Central America and Mexico. It produces bicolor flowers that are beautiful from late summer to frost. The flowers consist of white corollas and funnel-shaped purple calyces that last longer than the corollas.
The flowers grow in dense, arching terminal spikes up to 10 inches long. Butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to these flowers. The plant has linear, lance-shaped, gray-green leaves that grow in pairs on square stems. The leaves have a velvety texture, so the species may also be referred to as velvet sage.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 10-15 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.

The Mexican Sage had a few branched broken but still attached to the plant. I did find new growth. At the base of both plants.

The six plants came snugly and sustainably wrapped. They were in perfect condition and healthy. They're now on the lightstand, waiting for spring. One of my favorite parts of buying from Native Gardeners was the friendly handwritten note. I love connecting with other gardeners!

The plants arrived dried-out and shriveled, but I planted them immediately and have watered them thoroughly, so they seem to be bouncing back.

Plants were a bit wilted on arrival, but perked up when planted and watered. Very excited to have found some as these are very rare in my area. They will be great for a low-water, full sun part of my garden

The plants arrived carefully wrapped and in good condition. I took them outside and unwrapped them. I planted one. It immediately went into shock and I feared it would die. 3 days later it is still alive, but I have decided to plant the others in planters. Since we still have 2 more months of heat. I’ll get back to you when they bloom.

The plants arrived wilted, yellow with leaves falling off the plant. The soil is dry and the inside of the Box was really warm. I do not know if the plants will live

Native Gardeners.......found on the Internet while looking for Mexican sage, a bush not usually available in my state. This team of people far exceeds what is normally found when ordering from far away. The plants were healthy, beautiful young bushes packed with care using paper rather than Styrofoam. And a hand written thank you note. Thanking Native Gardeners for the pleasure of working with polite, respectful and knowledgeable gardeners. I strongly recommend and will be back.
