Sedum 'Autumn Fire'

Hylotelephium is a genus that includes around 33 species of drought-tolerant, herbaceous perennials, all native to the lovely regions of Asia, Europe, and North America. These charming plants are often known as stonecrop and make fantastic additions to fall gardens. In fact, many species and hybrids were once categorized in the genus Sedum, showcasing their rich botanical history.

You might notice that many hylotelephiums and sedums share the name stonecrop, thanks to their common ability to thrive in natural settings, often spotted growing gracefully on rocks or stony ledges.

Among them, AUTUMN FIRE stands out as a clump-forming perennial adorned with petite, star-like flowers that start off as a soft pink, transitioning beautifully to a deep rose-red, and finally to a warm, coppery-rust as autumn comes to a close. The flowers bloom in large, flattened heads, typically 3-6 inches across, perched atop sturdy stems with lovely grayish-green, fleshy leaves that are rounded and succulent-like. These wonderful plants usually grow in upright to slightly spreading clumps, reaching heights of about 2 feet. Not only are they visually striking, but they also attract butterflies throughout the growing season, adding vibrancy to any garden. Plus, the foliage and dried flower heads last well into winter, offering some lovely interest even in the colder months!

Winter Shipping: We will continue to ship throughout winter. If you prefer, we are happy to hold your order until spring; please include that request in your shipping notes.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
