Achillea 'Moonshine'
Achillea, a delightful genus of about 85 herbaceous perennial plants, happily thrives in the Northern Hemisphere. You'll find several lovely hybrids available to brighten your garden.
In the fascinating world of Greek mythology, the heroic Achilles used Achillea as a medicinal plant, famous for its ability to stop bleeding and heal wounds.
One charming hybrid is the moonshine yarrow (A. clypeolata x A. 'Taygetea'), which boasts fern-like, aromatic, silver to gray-green foliage. It forms a compact clump with deeply dissected leaves, presenting an upright and cheerful appearance. In summer, you can enjoy the bright lemon-yellow flowers that bloom in dense, flattened clusters, gracefully reaching 2-3" across on sturdy, erect stems that stand at about 2' tall. This lovely plant shares similarities with 'Coronation Gold,' but it's smaller and has lighter flowers—perfect for adding variety to your garden.
To provide the best environment for this gem, aim for lean, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine. It thrives in average garden soils and shows resilience in poorer soils as long as the drainage is good. Just keep it away from heavy clay and overly rich, moist soils. These plants will appreciate being placed in spots shielded from strong winds. To encourage even more blooms, gently deadhead spent flowers to lateral buds. After flowering, trim the plants back to their lovely basal leaves to tidy things up and promote fresh foliage growth—perhaps even more lovely blooms in the fall! Don’t forget to divide clumps every 3-4 years as needed to keep your plantings vibrant and healthy.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
