Phlox subulata 'Snowflake'
Phlox subulata, commonly known as moss phlox, mountain phlox, alpine phlox, or creeping phlox, is a delightful perennial that loves the sun. It typically grows to about 6 inches in height but spreads a generous 24 inches wide. This charming plant features a beautiful creeping habit, with linear to awl-shaped leaves that keep some green throughout the winter, along with lovely tufts of notched flowers that bloom in mid-spring. Native to dry, rocky, or sandy areas, open woodlands, slopes, and the lovely Appalachian region south of Tennessee, it brings a touch of beauty wherever it grows. The clusters of fragrant, tubular flowers make their appearance between April and May, and each bloom boasts five petal-like, rounded lobes with a unique notched design. The leaves are graceful and quite green, and the term 'awl-shaped' even comes from the Latin word subulata, giving a nod to their form. The name moss phlox reflects how these gorgeous mats of vegetation resemble soft moss, creating an inviting habitat for butterflies and other delightful insect pollinators.
'Snowflake' blooms masses of starry, white flowers in mid to late Spring.
Excellent choice for rock gardens, slopes, edgings, or ground covers. Can even handle heavy foot traffic. Attractive to butterflies, deer resistant, salt tolerant.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.
When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.
Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
