Muhlenbergia dumosa
Muhlenbergia dumosa is a charming grass that brings beauty to southern Arizona and northern Mexico. With its tall, light, airy stems reaching 4-6 feet, it resembles delicate bamboo and showcases bright green foliage. As the late fall and winter months roll in, the tips of its foliage take on a lovely pale pinkish-green hue, adorned with tiny flowers. Even though it spreads slowly thanks to its rhizomatous nature, it’s easy to manage. This delightful plant loves basking in full sun and appreciates an occasional drink of water. While it’s drought-tolerant, a bit more moisture makes it look even more lush and vibrant.
In its natural environment, Muhlenbergia dumosa thrives on rocky slopes, canyon ledges, and cliffs, nestled among oak-pine and thorn-scrub forests, as well as in open prairies. You can find it gracefully growing at elevations between 2,000 to 6,000 feet, from southern Arizona all the way to southern Mexico, spreading its charm from southern Baja California and Sonora to Jalisco and the enchanting Chihuahuan Desert region.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.
5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.
Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.
Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
