Nolina nelsonii

The Blue Nolina is a delightful, slow-growing evergreen succulent that resembles a tree-like shrub. Typically, it grows to a height of 6 to 10 feet, but you might often see it at a charming 4 to 8 feet tall. It boasts dense rosettes filled with long, narrow, silvery blue-green leaves, each about 1 inch wide and reaching up to 3 feet long, featuring gently serrated edges. In the spring, mature plants surprise you with a lovely 4-foot-tall stalk topped with numerous small, lightly fragrant white flowers. After they bloom, the rosette gracefully dies and makes way for new growth from below.

Nolina is dioecious, which means it has lovely separate male and female flowers on different plants, setting it apart from the similar-looking Yucca genus. It thrives in well-drained soil and enjoys full sun to light shade, making it a versatile choice for any garden. With very little watering needed, it can tolerate even chilly temperatures below 0°F. This plant can truly be a stunning addition to your garden or container, and its slightly serrated leaf edges help keep deer away while allowing gardeners to enjoy its beauty without worry.

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
