Leucophyllum frutescens 'Compactum'

Cenizo, Purple Sage, Texas Ranger, Texas Barometer Bush, Texas Silverleaf, Texas Sage, Silverleaf

Compact Texas Sage is a charming shrub that can grow up to 5 feet tall and wide. Its low canopy makes it perfect for planting under power lines. This lovely plant grows at a moderate pace and, with the right care, can live for over 40 years!

It enjoys full sunlight and well-drained soil with dry to average moisture levels. While it can't thrive in standing water, it's great at handling drought conditions, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping or moisture-saving landscapes. Compact Texas Sage thrives in poor alkaline soils and urban environments, as it's highly tolerant of pollution.

This versatile shrub is perfect for both outdoor landscapes and containers. Its upright growth habit makes it a fantastic 'thriller' in a container, where it can be surrounded by smaller plants or those with trailing edges. It can also shine beautifully when grown alone in a container. Just keep in mind that when it's in a container, it might not perform exactly as the tag suggests. Plus, outdoor container plants may need a bit more frequent watering than those planted in the ground!

Spring Shipping:
Orders are shipped within 7-10 business days. We will email you if there are expected delays.

When you order plants from our nursery, you can expect them to arrive in the best possible condition. Our team carefully packs each order using sturdy, biodegradable packaging materials.

Your plants' appearance may vary depending on the season and their current growth stage. We may cut back the leafy growth of some plants to prepare them for shipment and transplanting.

5 Gallon and Up: Any plant purchased to ship over 5 Gallons will be shipped bare root. This means we will remove the plant from its original pot, remove the soil surrounding the roots, and wrap the roots with a biodegradable plastic bag. This reduces weight and the likelihood of damage during shipping.

Once your plants arrive, it is essential to plant them as soon as possible. This will help them rebound and thrive. If you cannot plant immediately, water regularly and keep the roots off heat-conducting surfaces.

Newly transplanted plants often require more water until their roots are well established. Plan to water them 1-3 times weekly for the first few months.
